Alaska - To Homer Alaska

Monday, July 8, 2019 9:02 PM

I made it to Homer, AK today with really no problems. I had timed my travel time to Homer, prepared for lengthy delays do to the Swan Lake forest fire. By being on the road by 8:15AM, I had very little traffic while driving the Seward Highway down Turnagain Arm. It was the lightest traffic I have ever experienced being down and back several times. I was able to relax and enjoy the drive. As I was approaching some turn out, I saw two on surf boards paddling out in anticipation of the tide coming in. I hear it is something to see. If interested, more can be read by clicking on http://www.alaska.org/advice/alaska-bore-tide. One of these times, I will stop and watch the tide come in. This time like other times I wanted to get through or to a place by a certain time. I wanted to get to where I expected to get stopped due t the forest fire. In actuality, I had no delays. And thus, stopped at a car wash I knew of, to finally wash my poor camper. It looks great again. After I set up camp, I proceeded to the bear viewing office to see if I could get a last minute trip back to Brooks and is a no go as they are fully booked the two days I would be in Homer. I then made my way to Captain Patties Fish House to satisfy a craving I have had since I left the area in 2017. I am happy the food still tastes great. I am going back to camp and try to get current with my travel blog as I am three days behind. K, that is it for now. I hope you and those close to you are well and life is good.
