Mountains Hide Away

Alaska - Back into a City

Hello, I hope you and those closest to you heart are well and life is good. I am good, thanks.

Today I moved into the city to start final preperations for Katmai and to restock up on supplies and such. It wasn't long after I left Grand View Cafe and RV park and I saw a moose with a spring calf following close behind. I went slow trying not to spook them but momma wasn’t having any of it and they took up a hill and into some brush. I tried to get some video but I don’t think I was able to get much. I should say my purpose for wanting to stay at Grand View Cafe and RV Park was for the scenery. There is a forrest fire and all the smoke made it hazy with low visibility. So I couldn’t get pics of the mountains or the glacier in the other direction. I may try again after Denali. It was a nice easy drive the rest of the way. It should have been, as it turned out today’s drive was only 2 hours. There were areas of continuous curves. I just took my time and made it through without any trouble. I wanted to stop in Palmer, Alaska to wash the camper, but all the road construction on the side roads ended any thoughts of that as I wasn’t taking the camper onto any more gravel and dirt roads than I have to. So the camper sits being dirty. I made my way to where I will be parking the rig while over at King Salmon. Excitement is building by the moment to get to Brooks Falls. I can’t wait. After I had the camper parked and setup, I drove over to a chevy dealer to have the truck serviced to make sure all is okay. Wanting to get the truck serviced, is the reason I came into the city a day early. I was in an out in one hour, not bad for not having an appointment. I was happy to have that done and the truck checked out fine. I tried to find beer twice. The first time I just didn’t see a place. The second time out, I found a place but guess what? I forgot wallet. I took that as a sign not to have beer tonight, so I won’t. LOL I had a nice meal that I cooked,  I cleaned up afterward and now I’m writing. Too, thoughts of Denali are increasing. Denali is my favorite place and I’ll be spending almost 3 weeks there. I have also decided I am going onto the Kenai Peninsula. I want to get to Homer and hopefully say Hi to friends there and eat at Captain Patties Fish House. Then go over to Seward for another day on the water. I plane on doing that the 8th through the 14th. Well, that is about it for now. As always, take care...

I often wonder if maybe I’d be asked to consider…hosting...
